Since 2009′s show, each year’s MTV Movie Awards has included a footage debut from the coming installment. In ’09, the first trailer for The Twilight Saga: New Moon (which hadjust finished production by that point) dropped, and in 2010, with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse‘s release date right around the corner, an extended sneak peek at the film was offered up. Last year, at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards, the first trailerfor The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 was unveiled. There’s no way to know whether the tradition will continue this year with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, especially since a sneak peek scene clip and a teaser trailer have already been unveiled for the film, but time will tell . . .

• Kristen Dropping Her Award

At the 2009 show, it was clear that Kristen Stewart‘s nerves were getting to her a bit. While accepting her golden popcorn trophy for “Best Female Performance” in Twilight, sheaccidentally dropped it on-stage. It was a hilarious and pretty unforgettable moment (video here).

• F-Bombs

There are a couple of Twilight cast f-bombs to speak of when it comes to the Twilight cast’s history with the MTVMAs. The first one came in 2010, when Peter Facinelli took the stage to accept New Moon‘s win for “Best Movie” and decided to go full throttle with his swearing (video here). The censors might not have caught every f-bomb Facinelli delivered, but no one seemed to mind much. The next one came when Robert Pattinson was on-stage at last year’s show to deliver a special generation award to his Water For Elephants co-starReese Witherspoon. Pattinson used his stage time to not only drop an f-bomb but also to make a rather lewd joke (video here) the punchline for which was later enhanced by Witherspoon herself.

MUSIC FROM THE TWILIGHT SAGA: For Chamber Orchestra (on BSX Records) is an interesting listen, because what The Redfeld Ensemble does is level the playing field of the musical integrity of the individual scores, as though they were attempting to make all of the music sound like it was written by one composer.

Where Burwell’s TWILIGHT was sincere and minimalist, the Ensemble amplifies some of the subtler moments and injects them with a bit of energy or color. On the flipside, they downplay some of the more horror-inspired elements touched upon in Alexandre Desplat’s NEW MOON. And while his score was more grandiose, epic, and note-heavy, they turn it down just a notch, so that some of the heavier parts are not quite as leaden.

With Shore’s ECLIPSE work, Redfeld focused primarily on emphasizing the emotional weight and fair-haired atmosphere that may have been overlooked in the original score. Of course, film score purists will probably scoff at creative decisions like this, but you really need to look at this for what it is – a tribute album to some really great film music.

Closing the disc is an incredibly creative, percussive, Asian/Caribbean arrangement of Burwell’s TWILIGHT theme music by Joohyun Park entitled “Bella’s Lullaby (How Bella Got Her Groove Back)” that just might make you want to get up and shake your booty.

The breakdown of representation includes nine tracks from TWILIGHT, eight from NEW MOON, and three from ECLIPSE.  Notably absent from this disc, however, is any acknowledgement of BREAKING DAWN: Part 1, but do not let that little fact dissuade you from venturing into this experience.

NextMovie‘s Male Twi-hard Ryan McKee has had internal conflict about whether he can love The Hunger Games since he is a proverbial Twi-hard. In this new article (in which Team-Twilight lends some insight), Ryan comes to terms with how the two are different and that he can enjoy both! Here’s some discussion on the whole “Team” business:

“I think the ‘teams’ will always exists in ‘The Hunger Games’ because it’s an easy way to show your fondness for Peeta or Gale, but I don’t think it’ll ever get near the level of ‘teams’ in ‘The Twilight Saga,’” writes Amanda of TheHob.org fansite. “So far, it’s really just been used by media to compare the two franchises (or in merchandising to make a quick buck), and doesn’t really hold much water in the fandom.”

Sheila of HGGrilOnFire.com agrees. “I would avoid any reference to ‘Teams,’ i.e., Team Peeta vs Team Gale,” she says. “I know it’s been used a lot in the media, but I’ve seen it get a lot of negative backlash from the ‘Hunger Games’ fan community (basically the ‘Hunger Games’ fans hate that reference).”

“I think for the ‘Hunger Games,’ they might build up that love triangle more, to draw in more of the ‘Twilight’ fan base, but I can’t see how it could ever measure up,” writes Lindsay of Team Twilight, who is also “somewhat of a “HG” whiz.” “Having said that, I am not sure anything could EVER compare with the ‘Twilight’ love triangle and the attention it’s gained. It was the first time we used ‘team’ in the way it is now in everyday language.”

Robert Pattinson revealed at the press conference in Berlin today (where he is promoting Bel Ami) that, even if Stephenie Meyer wrote another Twilight Saga book, he’d be too old to play Edward in an onscreen adaptation. From Gossip Cop:

“I’d be curious to see what [Stephenie Meyer] would write, but I just think I’d probably be too old by the time [they did it],” the actor told reporters on Friday in Berlin, where Pattinson was on hand for the world premiere of Bel Ami.

He added, “I’m already too old. But yeah, it’d be kind of interesting.”

IndieWire has some of Robert Pattinson’s quotes from Berlin today (I couldn’t hear anything he said in those videos that were dubbed over in German!). In one instance, he talked about Twilight fans seeing his other films.

The “Twilight” audience could stand a little Guy de Massupant in their lives.

My responsibility is not necessarily to give anything back, but to try to do the best work I can. You get audience doing certain jobs. The biggest disservice you can do to an audience is to get them to just come out and give money. If people are interested in what you’re doing as an actor, they’ll come out to anything. If the “Twilight” audience would go to Bel Ami… if I can be arrogant, it’s kind of doing a service.  Young people especially could get a lot from this film. It’s strange having a pretty much single-sex audience all the time.  They’ve been incredibly loyal, the people who like me and like “Twilight.” They go to [my] other movies and like them. They’re incredibly determined. People  from Thailand are here. I can’t relate on any level, but it’s nice.

Boy, was it nice to see “Bella” and “Edward” reunite at the end of New Moon. We all felt her loss when he said he wanted to end, so for him to finally admit it was a lie was sweet, sweet relief.

Now that the Lionsgate acquisition of Summit is complete, the studio has started talking about if Twilight will continue. Rob Friedman has stated that if Stephenie Meyer chooses to write an additional Twilight book, then the studio is on board to make a sixth film in the franchise.

“If she (Meyer) wishes to do it, we’ll be there to support her” with a sixth film, said Friedman, who now runs the Lionsgate movie division with Patrick Wachsberger after the duo sold Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the Twilight franchise, to Lionsgate in January as part of a $412.5 million leveraged buy-out.

In addition, if I’m reading this correctly, it looks like we are getting our Breaking Dawn Part 2 trailer in front of Hunger Games when it releases in March.

For example, the Breaking Dawn Part 2 trailer will debut on every Hunger Games print on its theatrical opening on March 23 – Lionsgate’s largest ever theatrical release.

OMG Yahoo! has revealed the results for their polls which asked what celebs that fans would choose to date, or choose as a date for their teenager! Playing a vampire in a series of movies comes with its own set of problems, not the least of which is the built-in time limit of playing a character who doesn’t age. While Robert Pattinson was 22 playing 17 in the first Twilight movie, he’ll be 26 playing the part in the final film. Forgive us the pun, but that’s getting a little long in the tooth for a teenage vampire.
