Don’t count on ‘Breaking Dawn’ in 3D
I’m not sure where this 3D rumor started. I have thought all along it doesn’t make sense. Then, apparently a fake press release went out today announcing that Breaking Dawn would be in 3D. Gossip Cop confirms it isn’t true:
Earlier today a press release went out claiming, among other things, that The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn “will be split into two movies, and filmed in 3D.”
But that “press release is inauthentic,” a rep for Summit Entertainment confirms exclusively to Gossip Cop.
The rep, who further called the release “fabricated,” added that no official decision has been made about the division of Breaking Dawn, but that Summit is working with author Stephenie Meyer to bring her vision to the big screen with all the “creative elements” necessary.
Meanwhile, a well-placed source tells Gossip Cop that, while splitting Breaking Dawn is likely, filming it in 3D is a longshot.

Summit has replaced ‘Eclipse’ editor
EW.com is reporting that Summit has replaced Att Jones as editor of Eclipse and has put Nancy Richardson, the editor of the original Twilight, in his place.
Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the uber-successful Twilight series, confirmed this morning that it has replaced Eclipse editor Art Jones with Nancy Richardson, the editor of Catherine Hardwicke’s original Twilight film. The studio is not placing blame on Jones, who previously worked with Eclipse director David Slade on his horror film 30 Days of Night as well as Slade’s Ellen Page-starrer Hard Candy. They do believe, however, that Slade’s material – which they call “very good” – needed a stronger edit. The studio has more confidence in Richardson, who they say understands the emotion of the characters and is an ace at balancing action with the other elements of the film.
Richardson recently completed Miley Cyrus’ upcoming romantic drama The Last Song. Eclipse is scheduled to debut on June 30.
Summit announces when we’ll see the Eclipse trailer
The official Twilight twitter has been updated to say that the Eclipse trailer will play before Remember Me in theaters, but it looks like we might get to see it sometime the week before Remember Me hits theaters (March 12)
An update on ‘Breaking Dawn’ film(s)
[Breaking Dawn graphic made by our newest news poster and resident artist Pablo!]
We’ve got a new update on the status of the Breaking Dawn film(s). Er… do we? At first we got Deadline Hollywood’s post that they have heard “definitive”-ly that Breaking Dawn will be made as two films, shot back-to-back. And Twitter went nuts with the news. As is often the case, a couple of Twitterers reminded us that this still isn’t confirmed from Summit, and that it could be a ploy for site traffic (thanks to @larry411 and @hitfixgregory). But just so you know what the article was reporting, here is the info:
I have this from several sources, and it’s definitive. Filming on the back-to-back movies would begin in mid-October, and Summit Entertainment is looking at “high-end” directors. Breaking Dawn is the longest in Stephenie Meyer’s 4-book series lengthwise and it’s the most graphic – presenting birth, attempted murder, death, and of course vampire bites.
It seems like it has been kind of obvious that they would go for the two films, but I thought what was more interesting in this particular post was that they are looking at “high-end” directors. Who do you think that might include?
As I knew they would, Gossip Cop went straight to Summit for confirmation or denial. Here is what they have to say.
Reports everywhere this evening claim “Breaking Dawn” is going to be adapted into two movies.
The official word given to Gossip Cop from a rep for Summit is, “No decision has been made and as we have said all along we are continuing to work with Stephenie Meyer to bring Breaking Dawn to the big screen.”
HOWEVER, a well-placed source tells Gossip Cop dividing Breaking Dawn into two pictures “is the direction that it’s going in.” We’re told that from a practical standpoint, separating the story into two parts and shooting back-to-back is what makes most sense.
Earlier reports seem to be fairly accurate when it comes to timing, specifically, that filming may begin in October.
Gossip Cop will keep you posted when plans are officially finalized.
DEVELOPING…
What do you guys think? I feel like we keep hearing things that turn out to be untrue or premature, so at this point, I will just consider it all speculation until Summit tells us differently. But I will say that I am ready for some genuine news!
Summit picks up film starring Anna and Bryce
A while back we reported that Anna Kendrick had signed on to star in a film called I’m with Cancer, which also stars James McAvoy and Seth Rogan. Now it has been announced that Summit Entertainment will be distributing the film, and Eclipse actress Bryce Dallas Howard (Victoria) will be joining the cast. The film is set to begin filming this month in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Summit Entertainment has acquired North American distribution rights to an untitled comedy starring Seth Rogen and James McAvoy from Mandate Pictures, Summit announced on Tuesday. Formerly called “I’m With Cancer,” the movie also stars Oscar nominee Anna Kendrick and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Jonathan Levine (”The Wackness”) will direct a script penned by Will Reiser.
No word on the plot, although it’s supposed to be a comedy in the “bittersweet” vein — one the company says deals with “friendship, love, and survival.”
“It’s rare to find a script that has you laughing and crying in equal measure, or a cast and director as perfectly suited to get the tone of this unique and moving film as perfectly right,” Erik Feig, Summit’s president of production, said in a statement.
The project will be produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Ben Karlin. Reiser is executive producing along with Mandate Pictures’ president Nathan Kahane.
Filming will begin principal photography this month in Vancouver.
International sales will be handled by Lionsgate at the European Film Market in Berlin, which starts Thursday.
