I know I have chatted with many of you before about the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. I was excited when someone Twilight-y was cast so I could post on it a little. I am excited to report that the film, which will star Jamie Campbell Bower and Lily Collins, is set to hit theaters on August 23, 2013!

Filming is set to being August 15 of this year. Very exciting and can’t wait for more casting news on this one!

Vue Cinemas at the Westfield Stratford City (London) has many details about the Breaking Dawn premiere to be held on the 16th, including additional guests that have not previously been announced. Previously reported in attendance are Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson and Bill Condon.

Wednesday 16 November 2011, 5.45pm. Times are subject to change.

Where is the event?
The event will be held on The Street and Four Dials (outside space) and The Gallery (First Floor) of Westfield Stratford City, 2 Stratford Place, London E20. NB: Those planning on attending the event should dress appropriately for the outdoor elements.

Who will be at the premiere?
Stars of the movie including Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Jamie Campbell Bower and Myanna Buring along with Director Bill Condon will be attending the Premiere. Other VIP guests have also been invited.

Jamie Campbell Bower, 22

Campbell Bower, who went to the same private school, Bedales, as Daniel Day-Lewis and Minnie Driver, won his first role four years ago in Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd, his first leading part as King Arthur in the racy TV costume drama Camelot, and met his fiancée, Bonnie Wright, on the set of Harry Potter. But with two major film releases – as the young Earl of Oxford in the Shakespeare drama Anonymous and as an evil vampire in the new Twilight movies – he’s about to take the next step up, not to mention gaining a sizeable teenage female fan club. Still in the realms of supernatural fantasy, next year he plays Jace in the film of the bestselling The Mortal Instruments.

Some actors would make deals with the devil for Jamie Campbell Bower’s resume. In only five years of theatrical work, the 22-year-old Englishman has already played bit parts in both the “Harry Potter” and the “Twilight” sagas (as wizard Gellert Grindelwald and vampire Caius, respectively), and is set to star as the lead in “The Mortal Instruments” series, which very well could be the next teen movie phenomenon.

But who is this guy, and why should you know who he is?

1. He’s part of a young brigade of Brits invading Hollywood. Seriously, there’s a major influx of talent crossing the pond, and Campbell Bower is near the top of the list. His first big-screen role was opposite Johnny Depp as Anthony, the  lovestruck sailor with a beautiful voice in Tim Burton’s “Sweeney Todd.” Since then he’s racked up plum parts in the “Potter” and “Twilight” as well as two British indies, Guy Ritchie’s “RocknRolla” and his latest role as the young Earl of Oxford in the period drama “Anonymous.” Television fans should also recognize him as the sexy (and often naked) King Arthur on Starz’ “Camelot.”

2. He’s going to be a household name once the first “Mortal Instruments” installment comes out next year. If you aren’t addicted to Young Adult novels like we are, you may not know that the multi-book series has all the elements that attract teen audiences. Campbell Bower will play Jace Wayland, a cocky and beautiful “Shadowhunter” who fights demons and falls for the mysterious heroine Clary (Lily Collins), a teenager who for some reason can see a host of supernatural creatures even when no other “regular person” around her can. With “Harry Potter” done and “Twilight” about to end next year, all eyes will be on “The Hunger Games” and “The Mortal Instruments” to see if they conjure the same level of fan loyalty.

“You’re always tip-toeing into potentially blasphemous territory by calling anything ‘The Next Twilight,’” says Hollywood Crush editor Amy Wilkinson. “That being said, ‘The Mortal Instruments’ is the kind of delicious, action-packed fantasy romance that will likely resonate with many ‘Twilight’ fans. I’ve been told by the series’ author, Cassandra Clare, that Jamie and Lily Collins have amazing on-screen chemistry, so I’m banking on them (at least partially) filling the star-crossed lovers void left by Rob [Pattinson] and Kristen [Stewart].”

In a new interview with MTV, screenwriter I. Marlene King talks about her work so far on the screenplay for Cassandra Clare’s City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments book 1). Jamie Campbell Bower has scored the lead male role of shadowhunter Jace Wayland.

Are you familiar with the work of stars Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower?
I know of them. I know of their work. I think it’s fantastic casting. I think they’re going to be terrific. I love how these characters sort of grow and transform throughout the book series. So it’s going to be very fun for actors to play these parts.

Despite the title of his latest film, Jamie Campbell Bower, will not be anonymous for long. In fact, one could argue that, at the tender age of 22, who has appeared in many pop culture phenomena to qualify as a supernova in the making.

He began as the youth player, Anthony in Sweeney Todd, when he was 18 years, then moved on to roles in the Twilight series (as Caius in New Moon), the last two Harry Potter films (as Gellert Grindelwald) and in a miniseries called Camelot, playing a very young King Arthur.

“I know people have a preconceived notion about the role,” he says, fouling his long blond hair even as it extends over a couch in the hotel room during the Toronto International Film Festival.

“Have you seen Sean Connery, Clive Owen, all the older boys. But there is no objective proof in this type ever existed, no one to be exhumed, there is no DNA test we can do, so why not go back and discover the essence of what this person was? I mean, what is the point of doing 10 hours of the same linear bulls – t, when you can try to offer people a progression in three dimensions “

Bower has already learned that to get to the essence of a character is what this business is about, at least for him.

“For me, the moments that shine as an actor are those who do not have to do anything, just being there and there at this time. That’s why I found myself working with Joely (Richardson), so intense, but beautiful. “

He and his co-star playing younger versions in the flashbacks of the main characters of the film, Edward de Vere, Earl of Oxford and Queen Elizabeth I of England (later played by Rhys Ifans and Vanessa Redgrave, Richardson’s mother) .

Many people go to see the film as a literary detective story, working on the assumption that Shakespeare was a fraud and that de Vere wrote actually works. However, during the times when Bower and Richardson are on display, it is difficult to think that the movie is about anything other than love.

“Isabel loved him because he stood up. She was accustomed to everyone bow down and lick her ass all the time. Comes this guy who is well-documented, well traveled, well dressed, but does not give a toss about any of that. “

That sounds very autobiographical, one has to wonder how Bower was in his youth.

“How you were like as a kid? I’m still a child. I always wanted to be the center of attention. Mom told me that once interrupted a dinner party, because no one listened. I stood on the table, dropped his pants and Alun everyone.

“I was not the popular kid in school, but I’ve always been passionate about making the exploration of myself, not the enjoyment of others.”

He had just left school when he landed the role of Sweeney Todd, compared to the likes of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.

“It was pretty scary. I’m not going to lie, it was scary, but it was a life experience that we cherish today. “

He appeared in the second of the Twilight movies and has already filmed the fourth and fifth. Like most people involved with him, is “a unique experience, where are you laughing one minute and shivering the next.

“And then there’s the fans. Do not forget that ‘fan’ of the word comes from “fanatic” and Twilight devotees certainly fit that description. “

Asked about the most egregious example of flattery he can remember, it gets a wicked glitter in his eyes.

“A girl once sent me a slave collar and a little cheese, along with a note quite explicitly, to a hotel where he was staying in was a wheel of brie. I like a bit of brie, but I didn’t eat it for fear that had a glass or something in it.

“There are crazy people out there, but f – k, I’m one of them.”
