Here’s an excerpt from the interview :

That must have been so nice. What was the audition process like? How did you land the role of Felix?

I was auditioning for a character that was trying to pick Bella up outside a bar. I looked at the character; he just looked like fun and a pseudo wannabe tough guy and I just went in there and had fun with it. Later I got a call, not thinking anything of it. I didn’t think I was right for the part. So I got a call back still thinking it was for the same character, not knowing it was actually for Felix. When I showed up for this call back they were like, ‘Have you prepped anything for the vampire…for this character?” And I was like, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” [Laughs] So I’m like oh God, and they throw me some lines and I had five minutes to rehearse. The casting director, I know him he’s a great guy, he ran the lines with me for two or three minutes and then we went in there and put it on tape. I felt kind of bad about it because I felt it was so rushed so I did a tape the next day. I filmed it on my own and sent it to my agent and he sent it along to the casting directors. So I don’t know which tape actually went through but out of the two I guess I did something right. [Laughs]

That’s awesome! Meant to be. Now I spoke to Chaske Spencer [Sam] recently about workouts he and the wolf pack had to undergo. Even though you played a vampire, did you take part in any of that?

No, it was great because the past films I’ve worked on I’ve got no shirt on and I’ve been through that whole thing. But luckily our wardrobe was big, beautiful coats and stuff like that, which weren’t the best when it came to hot weather but it was definitely one of those things where I wasn’t those guys complaining about going to the gym and getting their butts kicked so it was nice for me. I mean I worked out on my own, to get a physicality and a feel for character and that sort of aggressive, animal side. So I did work out on my own but I didn’t have to go to the boot camps like those guys.

It really is crazy to think that the films and premieres will all be over soon. How did you feel about how they ended Breaking Dawn: Part I with [spoiler alert] her eyes opening?

I kind of liked it. At the end of the day it was very suspenseful, and everyone gets all excited and wants to see what she’s like as a new vampire. Now to get everything wrapped up in part II. I liked it. I thought it was a lot of fun and obviously the little end piece was great. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be in it when I was watching the whole thing and then having that little piece at the end at the credits was cool too. But yeah, I enjoyed it!

The Vancouver, B.C., native first hit the screen as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus in ‘X2′ (2003), but has since built up a decent body of work. He returned as Colossus in ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ (2006), and then joined the ‘The Twilight Saga’ beginning with ‘New Moon’ (2009), then ‘Eclipse’ (2010), and is set to star in both parts 1 and 2 of ‘Breaking Dawn’ (2011 and 2012).

Cudmore has two upcoming films where he portrays mere mortals. ‘Rites of Passage’ (2011), a thriller which co-stars Wes Bentley, Christian Slater, and Stephen Dorff; and the action-comedy ‘The Baytown Disco’ (2012) withPaul Wesley, Eva Longoria, and Billy Bob Thornton.

Seeing more and more of Cudmore on the big screen won’t be a bad thing.

Q: A lot has changed for you in these two years.

DANIEL CUDMORE: I know, it’s been good.

Q: Really good. You are doing all this other work…really exciting stuff.

DC: Yeah, I’m trying to. I’m trying to branch out as much as possible.

Q: Would you say your role as Felix in the ‘Twilight’ series has really opened these doors?

DC: I think so. I think it’s, again obviously with this industry you still have to prove yourself with every job. But I do believe that it has actually helped me get into doors just with the huge hype and how excited everyone is for the films. It definitely has helped me get a foot in the door and prove I can actually do these jobs and these characters.

Q: You’ve got two new films coming out: ‘Rites of Passage’ and ‘The Baytown Disco.’ Very different films. So it sounds like you’re not getting typecast…

DC: No, that’s one of the things that I’ve made sure of I haven’t gotten. Because there’s sort of two sides of typecasting. There’s one is that you’re working, which is always a good thing. But two, it just sort of seems like it can get kind of boring and stifling for me and for an actor if you’re doing the same thing over and over again and not really challenging yourself.

Daniel Cudmore (Twilight: New Moon), Travis Fimmel (TV’s The Beast), and Andre Braugher (TV’s Men of a Certain Age) have joined Billy Bob Thornton and Eva Longoria in the Southern comedy The Baytown Disco. Directed by Barry Battles, the film follows three brothers who, as usual, get more than they bargained for when they agree to help a woman get her son back from his abusive father. Serinda Swan, Clayne Crawford, Thomas Sangster and Meagan Good also star.

THR reports that Cudmore, Fimmel and Crawford will star as the trio of brothers. The script, by Battles and Griffin Hood, made the 2009 Black List. The Baytown Disco is set to start filming on May 2nd in Louisiana.

On Monday, Peter Facinelli (“Carlisle Cullen” in the Twilight Saga) returned to Vancouver, British Columbia to resume his work on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn and alerted his fans on Twitter that there is “One more month to go.” The original schedule, posited by Production Weekly last year, had the dates for filming listed as: November 8th, 2010 to April 22nd, 2011.

Of course, there have been a couple of weather-related delays along the way, and, besides, the very first scene to come out of the touch-down in Brazil (“the boat scene”) took place a day earlier than their listed schedule, so the exact date which the Twilight Saga will wrap for good is not an absolute lockdown for April 22nd, though likely.

Evidently, the weather has continued to be no friend to the cast up there because Facinelli also said, “Rainy, muddy, day here on the set of Breaking Dawn. Shooting outside. Vampires are fine in the cold… but the rain sucks. Pun intended.”

Over the course of the past few weeks, several actors have said goodbye to filming for the Twilight Saga, including Daniel Cudmore and Alex Meraz, and others (Michael Sheen, Jamie Campbell Bower, e.g.) have also completed their work on the final two installments to the Saga.

Pretty soon – that is, in about a month – they’ll all be done, barring any “pick-ups” or “re-shoots” being necessary, of course.

During the Twilight Convention this weekend  in Orlando, some of the cast: Peter, Charlie, Dan, Alex, and Booboo Talk Rob and Kristen:

Peter Facinelli:
- He showed Kristen one of the chicken breasts he was practicing stitching on and she said “yeah, no, I wouldn’t let you stitch me.”
- During filming of Twilight he said that Rob said to him once that he didn’t understand why they don’t just eat people.
- During NM when Jasper attacks Bella and he’s supposed to restrain him, he knocked his wig off by accident
- It was really him (Peter) that Rob/Edward threw to the ground during that scene (not doubles) & viceversa

Charlie Bewley and Dan Cudmore:
- Fav Twi character besides themselves: Charlie’s fav is Edward. Dan’s is the wolves.

- Charlie just called Rob ‘Pussy whipped Pattinson’. [he was asked who his favorite character is and he said it used to be Jacob but now Its Edward cause he feels like Edward needs a little fire up his ass cause Jacob taking over..then he said "ya I like Edward..but not when he's like...idk...if he's like pussy whipped pattinson then no" or something like that and everyone died laughing and was like OOOOOO and he just smirked and shrugged..it was really funny]

Booboo Stewart:
- What was it like working with RPatttz: Booboo says he is really funny
- Someone asked if Booboo has listened to RPattz on the Eclipse DVD commentary. -lol

Alex Meraz:
Alex grabbed Kristen by the throat when filming the scene when she punches him. He thought he was being slick but instead he scared her in real life.

Their thoughts on the Twilight Saga:
Peter:
-Neatest thing he’s experienced from Bill Condon? He’s very open to ideas and really nice
-During training scene in Eclipse when Emmett says “not in my nature”, Kellan tripped over a bush and fell over
-He’s miffed that Carlisle doesn’t get to take his shirt off so he might ask Bill Condon if he can do a pantless scene for BD

Charlie and Dan:
- Charlie would prefer animal blood because it’s more fun to chase around an animal.
- Human blood vs animal blood if they were real vampires? Dan says the real thing becausec he’s not going to a bar and order a non-alcoholic drink
- Fav book in the series: Dan says Eclipse. Charlie says Breaking Dawn because Demetri gets to have some fun.
- Wow! moment while working in Twi Saga? For Charlie was seeing the magnitude of the fandom when he went to Montepulciano

While we still don’t have a synopsis, we know some of the other cast members that are appearing along side Daniel Cudmore in the film he is currently shooting entitled Rites of Passage, directed by Peter Iliff.  Also starring in the film, according to IMDb, are Wes Bentley, Stephen Dorff and Christian Slater.

It’s still not clear what the premise of the film is, but when we find out, we’ll let you know.  In the meantime, we know from Dan’s twitter that he is shooting in Santa Barbara, California (and staying in a Motel 6!).

Interesting tidbit: Christian Slater just completed another film called Soldiers of Fortune, which co-stars Daniel’s Volturi pal Charlie Bewley.

Summit Entertainment has released a trio of new The Twilight Saga: Eclipse transit shelter posters promoting the theatrical and IMAX versions of the upcoming sequel.

The one poster shows Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner looking down at us like we’re peons while its companion has Dakota Fanning and her Volturi cohorts doing the same. The last has the newborn vampires emerging from the water as seen in the Eclipse trailer.

All the posters share one unfortunate trait: uninspired Photoshop work. These aren’t much better than the dreaded floating head posters that look like they were cobbled together in the moments before happy hour kicked off. Maybe Twihards will revel in the sight of their beloved stars, but Summit’s marketing team could have done a lot better with a little creative effort.      -The HD Room
