Dakota Fanning may be taking the lead role in Summit Entertainment’s If I Stay for Catherine Hardwicke, the director who started the Twilight saga that now generates paychecks for Fanning.

Pajiba’s source says the 15-year-old actress is in negotiations to star as Mia Hill, a young woman who gets into a car accident and goes through an out of body experience while in a coma.

Anna Kendrick tells how she got the role of Jessica

In a new interview with New York Magazine, Anna Kendrick discusses how she became involved with Twilight and playing Jessica Stanley.

Twilight is a very different kind of movie (and very different role) from most of what you’ve done. How did you get involved in that?

Well, Catherine Hardwicke also saw me in Rocket Science when she was on the jury at Sundance. And she asked me to come in and read. And at first I just didn’t get it. I felt like I had no business auditioning for a kind of a queen bee–type girl, because it’s so not who I was growing up. I just figured the only way that somebody like me should be playing that is to be playing up the kind of things underneath that popular-girl image. You know, like the desperation and the jealousy, and I think that’s what makes her so funny.

The rest of the article is about Anna’s new film Up in the Air. Read more here.

Quotes from Rob Pattinson’s interview with Vanity Fair

VFCoverDec2009.1

Here are some quotes from the Robert Pattinson Vanity Fair interview in their December 2009 issue.

Chris Weitz on the performances delivered by Rob and Kristen in New Moon:

“There’s every reason for a young actor to phone it in on a franchise where the first movie has done incredibly well,” says New Moon director Chris Weitz. “But he and Kristen take it really, really seriously and don’t want to phone it in.  They want to find some way to make these  characters believable, credible to themselves and to the audience.”

On his modeling career:

“I was such a terrible model,” he says. “I was really tall but still looked like a six-year-old.”

Catherine Hardwicke on how she discovered Rob as a possibility for Edward:

I said, ‘There have to be British actors that we don’t know about that are this guy, who can do a great American accent.’ I said, ‘Do me a favor. Got to IMDb and look at every young actor, from age 15 to 25, who was in Harry Potter or aything, even a tiny role, print out their headshots.’ … And I saw a picture of Cedric Diggory. I said, ‘He’s great!’ …And the look that jumped out to me at that point, and I know its a silly adjective to use, he was Byronic.”

Catherine Hardwicke on the complex relationship between her two stars:

“What Rob and Kristen had is a multitude of feelings for each other,” says Hardwicke. “It was what we needed. Complex, intense fascination.”

Justin Chon says get ready for “darker” Eclipse

JustinChon

Justin Chon (The Twilight Saga’s Eric Yorkie) chatted with E! Online’s Marc Malkin about David Slade, the Eclipse set, and the increased security on the set (especially when it comes to Rob Pattinson).

Twilight star Justin Chon tells me that director David Slade’s Eclipse isn’t exactly taking his lead from Catherine Hardwick or Chris Weitz.

“He’s done pretty dark films so that’s where I see [Eclipse] really gravitating towards—more of a dark kind of moody film,” Chon said yesterday at BAFTA’s pre-Emmy tea party. “Just shooting the scenes that I’m in, the mood is definitely different.”

catherine-hardwicke

Twilight has landed a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest grossing film with a female director (Catherine Hardwicke)!

When it comes to some of the biggest movies of the decade, Guinness World Records has it covered. JJ Abram’s re-imagination of Star Trek made it into this year’s book as the “Most Downloaded Movie Trailer (24 Hours)” with 1.8 million downloads on Apple.com in the first day and more than five million in its first five days of release. Twilight, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, has captured the hearts and wallets of millions while claiming the record for “Highest-Grossing Movie By A Female Director”.
