Joe Anderson will play Alistair in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2. In a new interview, he talks for the first time about his Twilight involvement, as well as his upcoming TV show The River, and his new movie The Grey (number 1 this weekend at the box office!). From Sioux City Journal:

And then? Then there’s “Breaking Dawn,” the last two parts of the “Twilight” saga. In the vampire drama, Anderson plays Alistair, a particularly complex vampire who intercedes for the Cullins. The actor read the books, saw the early films and “tried to absorb as much as I could” but knew he’d never be as savvy about the character as some of the popular books’ fans.

No sweat. “It’s nice to play against the grain of the film,” Anderson says. “He can do what he wants because he is who he is.”

The 29-year-old British-born actor, however, didn’t realize the devotion of “Twilight’s” fan base.

“I hadn’t even arrived at the motel and already there was fan mail. They figured out where I was going to be — and I didn’t even know. But every one of those letters was so genuine and so sweet.”

The creepy stuff? That was saved for other actors. “A woman was standing outside the Sutton Place in Vancouver with a pair of scissors. She had flown from England to cut some of Robert Pattinson’s hair for a doll.”

“Breaking Dawn, Part II” (slated for release in the fall) came with such high financial stakes “tension was ripe,” Anderson says. “There’s not a lot of rehearsal. So before a scene with Kristen (Stewart) I had to gun up the character from the trailer to the stage. It’s the first time you see this guy come to life. But until you get the gear on, you’re not quite sure what he’s going to be.”

Because Alistair pops up “and is rather aloof,” Anderson found he could “take a little bit of literary license with him.”

Anderson said, “Flannery is a young and ignorant guy; that ignorance breeds fear within him. He’s got a lot of mouth and is always saying the wrong thing, but he’s not necessarily a bad guy for it. Ultimately, he’s scared and that’s his reaction to the situation he’s thrown into. I would say there’s a little bit of Joe inside Flannery, but I think I had to do that so he’d feel natural in the film. There’s a naturalness to The Grey so playing him any other way would never have worked. He needed to be himself but in a way that you still want him to survive by the end, too, so I never would have made him this over-the-top type of character.”

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1 has raked in the dough at the box office worldwide, and now it has officially crossed the $700 million mark! The film has grossed worldwide the highest of the four films in the series so far! From Hollywood Reporter:

Summit Entertainment and its new parent compnay Lionsgate announced Sunday thatThe Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn–Part 1will soon overtake the $709.8 million earned by The Twilight Saga: New Moon to become the top grossing title in the franchise.

The film, however, has not beat New Moon or Eclipse‘s domestic (U.S.) take.

At what point in the filming process will you come onboard? Is the film usually finished by the time you see it and set the score?
Generally, I don’t actually write anything until a film has actually been shot. But, there are some exceptions.
In the movie I’m working on right now, which is “Breaking Dawn: Part II,” they needed Rob Pattinson and the actress who plays his daughter to play piano onscreen. I had to write this duet before they shot the film so they could actually learn the parts. Rob is a musician, so he prides himself on working out the fingering for these correctly.

The Gay and Lesbian Critics Association has announced their nominees for the 2012 Dorian awards, honoring film and television. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1, has been nominated in their “Campy (International or Not) Film of the Year” category.

Other films in this category are Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, Kaboom, The Muppets, and Thor.

Winners of the Dorian Awards will be announced January 16, 2012.

The neckline is a slight V, just enough to see the collarbones. The back is oval-shaped, with a Chantilly lace border veiled in tulle. Twilightish spoke exclusively with Lisa Howard who will play Siobhan in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2, about her involvement in the Saga! Here’s a bit of the interview:

Twilightish: Siobhan is quite a strong willed character, (she even suspects that she can effect the outcome of a situation by willpower alone!). How did you go about forming her character for the big screen?

Lisa: To get into my character, I re-read Breaking Dawn and I watched all the prior Twilight movies. I tried to be as familiar with the world that Stephanie Meyers created as I could. Then on set, my costume, hair and make-up really helped transport me into that world. Who couldn’t feel like a vampire with those red eyes!

Twilightish: Did you find instant chemistry with your on-screen mate Liam (played by Patrick Brennan)?

Lisa: Yes, he’s a great guy.  Maggie (played by Marlane Barnes) and Liam and I spent a lot of time together on set, you get close with everybody.

Ya gotta hand it to Summit Entertainment: They know how to steal the holiday thunder. First came the theatrical release of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” which caused mass vampire wedding hysteria in the week leading up to Thanksgiving. And now, they’re releasing the DVD of the film in mid-February! As in, just in time to upstage the Valentine’s Day plans of the thousands of hapless dudes who are currently dating “Twilight” fans!

…Er, yeah. Sorry, guys! But seriously, you might as well skip the chocolate box, cancel those reservations and accept that none of your piddling humanoid romance can possibly compete with the sight of Edward Cullen in a perfectly tailored tuxedo. (Just be glad that there’s only one more of these movies until the franchise is finished, eh?)

Our first encounter with a “Twilight” star was our chat with Pattinson at the Golden Globes, during which he provided us with a giggly reaction to the first “Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ still of Bella and Edward in bed, as well as his positive reviews of Stewart playing a vampire. “It’s like she wanted to do it the entire time,” he told us. “It’s really funny, it’s like a completely different environment on set when she’s a vampire and when she’s not. I think she’s going to do it really well.”

There were also plenty of teases about the film’s most highly anticipated scenes, including the wedding of Edward and Bella and the honeymoon sex scene. Of seeing Stewart in a wedding dress during the filming of their characters’ nuptials, Pattinson said, “She looked amazing. I really didn’t do much than just stand there.”

Stewart later said of the experience: “It was very, very emotional for me.”

Pattinson added, “You kind of realize what the groom’s position in a wedding is, which, in reality, is basically a prop. You stand there in a suit, and then everyone is looking at the girl.”

One scene in which everyone was most certainly not just looking at the girl is the first sex scene between Edward and Bella on their wedding night. “I think we had some really interesting ideas about [the love scene],” Pattinson said when we caught up with him at the “Water for Elephants” press junket. “It’s kind of interesting, as well, having to do it in the context of PG-13. It makes it more interesting.”

The fanbase seemed to keep growing by the hour, as did the excitement surrounding the release of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 1.” The release of a new “Twilight” film also meant that we’d be seeing a lot of the blockbuster franchise’s superstars as they promoted the film — and, boy, was MTV News lucky with how much time we ended up spending with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and the rest of the gang this year. As such, this week’s “Twilight Tuesday” is dedicated to the best and brightest of those interviews with our favorite stars.
