According to the Hollywood Reporter:

CANNES – Canadian distributor VVS Films has picked up cop thriller Ten starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The deal was negotiated between Ernie and Harry Grivakis of VVS Films andBill Block and John Friedberg of QED, which are financing and producing the film. David Ayer, who helmed Street Kings (2008) and the upcoming cop drama End of Watch with Jake Gyllenhaal, is attached to direct. VVS also has End of Watch in Canada. Open Road recently picked up Ten for release in the U.S.

Boy, Anna Kendrick (“Jessica Stanley” in The Twilight Saga) has got it going on right now. She’ll be a guest star on Sunday’s season finale episode of Family Guy on Fox.

“I’m playing Nora, and she’s a young cop, and she works with Joe and she has a little crush on Joe,” Kendrick explained. “He’s trying to be up-standing about it, but eventually they kinda give in I guess.”

As I mentioned above, KStew has two offerings for this summer, and they’re coming hot and heavy, one right after another. First will be the long-awaited adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s seminal novel “On The Road,” dropping on May 23. I don’t simply mean it’s “long-awaited” because it’s been in development for two years and Twi-hards have been itching to see Stewart as a crazy teenage ’40s beatnik. Hollywood has been trying to adapt the book, in one form or another, since 1957. Why has it been so difficult? It’s not exactly a “clean” story arc, giving directors license to get way too artsy with it. Don’t get your hopes up too much. Let’s just focus on the joy of seeing KStew getting sweaty dancing to jazz, man.

If “On The Road” does disappoint, you have “Snow White and the Huntsman” around the corner on June 1, and that seems highly likely to be awesome. Stewart couldn’t have played her cards much better: a notable indie dropping right before a shoo-in summer blockbuster. She’ll dominate the movie press for at least those two weeks.

While I’m not going to crunch the numbers, it’s likely Kendrick will be the “Twilight” cast member who gets the most work in Hollywood. That’s why it’s no surprise Kendrick appears in May 18′s “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” since the studio tried to squeeze as many marketable names as it could in this ensemble cast. She plays Rosie, a character “who reunites with an old flame and fellow food-truck owner and becomes pregnant.” Other than that, I can’t tell you more than the film’s omnipresent marketing has already done.

We reported previously that director Dylan Kidd wanted Anna Kendrick for his new film Get A Job, and now it has been reported that she has signed on, along with several other actors including Emmy-winner Bryan Cranston. Here are some of the plot details from The Playlist:

Penned by Kyle Pennekamp and Scott Turpel, the film will follow four recent college graduates who discover that their lofty expectations and the realities of adulthood are two very different things. Teller will play Will Davis, who finds his true calling after struggling through an entry level job. Kendrick plays Jillian Stewart, Will’s type-A girlfriend, who lives her life according to the strictest of plans. Cranston plays Roger Davis, Will’s father who is hunting for a job at the same time as his son. Braun, Mintz-Plasse and Jackson will play Will’s three friends, (Charlie, Ethan and Luke, respectively), each of whom find careers with some interesting results. Brie will play Tanya, one of the group’s sharp-witted co-workers. Pharoah will play Skeezy D, who starts his own recession-proof business.

End of Watch, starring Anna Kendrick, which was picked up by Open Road Films last week, has been given a release date of September 28. The film also stars Jake Gyllenhaal.

In addition, Kristen Stewart’s On the Road has been given a UK release date of September 21, 2012. The film still does not have U.S. distribution, but here’s hoping it’s picked up for the U.S. to come out around that same time.

Open Road is closing a deal for U.S. distribution rights toEnd Of Watch, the David Ayer-directed cop drama that stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Pena and Anna Kendrick. I’m told that Open Road will release the film later this year. They’ve committed to a 2,000-screen run, with a minimum guarantee just north of $2 million and a $20 million P&A commitment.

Now in its 27th year, Film Independent’s Spirit Awards recognizes the achievements of American independent filmmakers.

Director Dylan Kidd (Roger Dodger) is attached to direct Get a Job for CBS Films, and he’s setting up a very nice cast.  Miles Teller is in negotiations to star.  Offers are out to Anna Kendrick andBryan Cranston.  Christopher Mintz-Plasse and SNL‘s Jay Pharaoh are also in talks; Kidd’sRodger Dodger star Jesse Eisenberg is looking to take on a cameo in the comedy.  According toVariety, the script by Kyle Pennekamp and Scott Turpel follows “a college graduate and his friends who have to lower their expectations about life as they enter the real world during a recession.” Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher (Extraordinary Measure) are producing.

Anna Kendrick tells Contact Music that Twilight was such a small production, and they had so little expectation of its success, that the cast had to organize their own wrap party!

She said: “People say, ‘But you must have known it was a big deal,’ but no, we didn’t.

“We even threw our own wrap party after the first movie. Emails were exchanged between us saying, ‘Hey, do you want to hang out? Do you think we should have a little wrap party thing?’

“It was not like being on a big movie; the success of the first film was an accident. I don’t really think something like that would happen by accident again.”

Kristen Stewart:

2012 is shaping up to be KStew’s biggest year yet. In addition to saying goodbye to the character that made her a superstar, she is starring in the summer fantasy blockbuster “Snow White and the Huntsman.” Also featuring Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen and Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman, the story is a darker twist on the classic fairy tale in which Snow White seems more like Joan of Arc than a fair maiden. Let’s just hope it’s better than last year’s “Red Riding Hood.” It couldn’t be worse.

On the other side of the movie spectrum, Stewart is also appearing in the relatively shoestring budgeted “On the Road.” I know I wrote about this film in last year’s preview, but it actually seems like it’s coming this year. Principal photography wrapped in 2010, so they’ve been in post over a year. Here’s hoping the Jack Kerouac classic will finally see the silver screen in 2012.

Robert Pattinson:

R.Pattz showed up at 2011′s Comic-Con with f—ed up hair and caused hundreds of Twi-hard teens to experience minor heart palpitations. “Has our only reason for living gone crazy?” they wondered. Their worries eased when they found out it’s only a haircut for his character in this year’s “Cosmopolis,” a film based on prolific writer Don DeLillo’s 13th novel. It’s being directed by dark genius David Cronenberg (“A History of Violence,” “Eastern Promises”), so Pattinson may finally have a shot at winning critics over with his serious side.

In March, we’ll finally get to see the long-promised movie “Bel Ami.” From the trailer, it seems like a Victorian period piece oin which Pattinson gets to make love to Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas. I can’t wait.

Taylor Lautner:

After the bomb known as “Abduction” dropped and sent Lautner’s camp scurrying for the bunkers, he and his team seem to be keeping things on the DL this year. Other than “Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” Lautner doesn’t have any movies coming out in 2012. However, looking further on the horizon, he is planning a comeback in 2013 with the fantasy film “Incarceron,” alongside actress Kavinda Dissanayake. Lautner is also rumored to star alongside Dwayne Johnson in the action film “Goliath” next year. Do you think he’ll play The Rock’s son?

Peter Facinelli:

The veteran actor and Cullen father is making his big screenwriting debut with “Loosies,” opening this week. Facinelli also stars in the independent movie about a New York pickpocket who has a run of bad luck, including a former one-night stand (Jamie Alexander) telling him she’s pregnant  and a cop (Michael Madsen) having a vendetta against him. Look for Facinelli also to revive my all-time favorite character of his, Dr. Cooper, in season 4 of Showtime’s dark sitcom “Nurse Jackie” this year.

Jackson Rathbone:

Like his character Jasper Hale, Rathbone’s projects outside of “Twilight” are an enigma. “Zombie Hamlet” and “DaZ: Vol. Too – NonSeNse” are supposed to be released this year, but they were also supposed to be released last year. The indie “Live at the Foxes Den” looks promising, but there isn’t much information available. Finally, “Cowgirls n’ Angels,” in which Jackson plays a rodeo rider (but not a cowgirl), looks closest to completion.

The 27th Film Independent’s Spirit Award nominees were announced today, and Summit Entertainment’s 50/50, starring Anna Kendrick and Bryce Dallas Howard, received a nomination for Best Feature Film, as well as Best First Screenplay and Best Supporting Female (Anjelica Huston).

Also notable, there were a couple of nominations, including Best Cinematography, for Midnight in Paris, which stars Michael Sheen.
