Will the ending of Breaking Dawn differ from the book?

We have gotten a lot of questions about whether the ending of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2 will be different from the book. These questions have come up after some comments made in the recent Entertainment Weekly article referencing the changes. Here’s what the article says so you can see for yourself.

Got all that? Well, just you wait: Even devoted readers fo the Stephenie Meyer books are in for a pretty big shock in the final third of the film, when the plot strays from the last novel in a sequence dreamed up by Meyer and longtime screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg one night over dinner. “When I first read the script, I got to that part and was like, ‘What?’” Pattinson says. “And then I had to go back a page.”

The actors stress that they hope the film’s surprises won’t leak out before Nov. 16 — so we won’t spoil anything here. But we can tell you that even those averse to change will be more than satisfied, and probably thrilled, by how the series ends. The actors certainly are. “It does it a serious justice,” says Pattinson. Stewart agrees. “It’s clearly made by someone who really likes [the saga], who really cares,” she says. “That’s why Bill Condon is perfect. Thank God for him.”

So, yes it does appear the story will differ a bit from what is written in the Breaking Dawn novel. But before you get too angry, you have to consider the changes were from the brain of Stephenie Meyer herself, and if you trust Steph, you have to trust it was a good change! Also, a lot of times they have to make changes from book to movie to make sure that it flows properly for screen (for example, adding more drama or conflict). I’m looking forward to seeing what this big change is. How about you?

In the meantime, here are all the images from the EW article again for your perusal! [Photos: EW via TBB]

It's Edward dreaming of his first reactions to Bella....Midnight Sun movie...

There having a big fight scene at the end

  • Betty

Maybe this isn't really going to be the last movie. A "cheating scandel" would certainly serve as an effective distraction.

  • susan

I hope the end is not diffrent I liked the way the book ended.

I'm actually lokking forward to seeing this change in the plot. I didn't really like the origional ending- in the book; it was pretty much like saying "and they lived happily ever after" only in a sappier way (I saw that ending as a huge disappointment from Stephanie Meyer). I hope this ending will serve this wonderfull saga justice- unlike the origional one

I'm guessing it's justwhat we've all heard before. That there is a big battle scene, but really it's all in Alice's vision.

Some of you take things so serious...if you was a true fan of the books you wouldnt care what is going on between Robert and Kristen...they are not Edward and Bella... Stephane Myers deserves the respect for writing a great series... So I will be there no matter how it ends...just hopes it doesnt vear to far from the actual ending....

  • sammy

i think you should have kept it the same i loved it the way it was the books were really good but now that u changed it i might not see the next movie

  • I will not go see the movie... After Rob and Kristen broke up... So i am sorry... I have made my mind up...

  • Jenn

    Good, nobody wants you there.

I just hope that the end will still have Bella showing Edward all of her thoughts she's been saving for this moment, and he finally see's how much see truely loves him. If they change it to their meadow that would be fine, but if they leave that out, it would so wrong.

  • imagine if bella has another baby if it were possible haha oh well i'm jst guessing hehe

  • I think that if Stephenie Meyer was behind any changes made from the book to the movie we will all be in for a treat.. I mean IF they are having a big battle at the end it will be worth seeing.. Because lets face it some of us or maybe all of us were kind of let down by all of that battle preperation and then no epic battle.. They say how great and powerful Bella is supposed to be and then we don't get to see her use all of those powers of hers...

  • Lillian Zach

    I totally agree

  • I guess if the changes were made by the author, they can't be too bad. As long as it's a good change, I don't mind if there are changes.

Maybe Bella will run off with Aro and meet on a dirt road behind the Hollywood sign while she is wearing Edwards clothes.

    LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

That was inappropriate in a stupid thing to say. You have no room to speak, she is not the only girl to make a mistake. she is only 22 and made a bad choice and will have to live with it for the rest of her life. leave her alone. It's people like you who take something that's already hurtful and make it into something even more hurtful and turn others against each other and cause suicides to happen. you need to just hush. Don't forget he or she who is without sin cast the first down.

  • Well said ... I truly believe they will work it out, they are an adorable couple !!!!!

  • Guest

Are you kidding me?  You are defending this home wrecker?  Good, I am glad she will have to live with it for the rest of her life because what she did is unforgettable and unforgivable.  I am not without sin, but I know the difference between right and wrong.  Only 22!!  Did you seriously just say that?  When I was 22 I was supporting myself and taking responsibility for my actions.  When my parents were 22 they were married and had their first child.  Don't give me this garbage of her only being 22.  She is a grown woman and she knew what she was doing.
Don't put her possibly committing suicide on my statement.  If she does that that's all her and that would be because she's too much of a coward to deal with her actions.
Were you also defending Angelina Jolie when she broke up Brad and Jen?

  • Well said Guest!!!! No mercy to those who break up a home!!!!! Is their fault so many marriages end up in divorce, cause people go around helping break families and then have other people support their bad decisions and making up excuses for them! She is an adult! I am 22 and I would NEVER go slut out with a marry man in respect for the fellow woman who decided to give him her all and marry him. NO EXCUSES!!! PROMOTE RESPECT FOR MARRIAGE PEOPLE, not the other way around. geez!

  • Wow...way to point out the splinter before removing the plank in your eye. How about remember everyone is human. Learn from it and move on!

  • Noone knows what its like to be that young and be who they are, with so many people watching their every move !!!!!!!

  • Brittanygutierrez29

Omg I cant wait till the movie I read all the books almost two times!!!!!:)

  • Emmagray10
