Carolina Herrera: Kristen Stewart Was ‘Moved’ by the ‘Breaking Dawn’ Wedding Dress

Carolina Herrera, the designer of the Breaking Dawn wedding dress said that Kristen was moved the first time she put the dress on.

“We did three fittings. When she initially put on the dress and looked over her shoulder into the mirror, she was very moved,” Herrera tells the mag, on stands Wednesday. “In that moment she was not an actress or a character in a film but instead a bride, and ahappy one at that.”

“I took into consideration the character of Bella and Kristen’s portrayal of her, and what this fantasy character would choose to wear for the most important day of her life,” she explains of the masterpiece, which retails for $35,000. “It’s made of a crepe satin with two inserts on the front and beautiful silk thread topstitching. The neckline is a slight V, just enough to see the collarbones. The back is oval-shaped, with a Chantilly lace border veiled in tulle. It’s very romantic, and when all the details come together, it creates a vision specific to Bella’s style and personality.”

Gyleches, Yes, I very much loved the dress that Bella had on in her dream!  I liked it better, but I guess that was a modern day looking gown.

  • Gyleches

Question; did anyone like the dress Bella wore in her dream better than the real one?

  • BillieleeCullen

i loved bellas dress!! Yes she doesnt like that kind of style but she looked amazing in it!1 Ur opoinion of it is your opinion!!

  • Tina5571

    Beautiful gown.

  • Coopty

ALICE is the one who picks the dress.  And it is meant to be of a simple, traditional style

  • Elena

Ok, some of the comments seem to suggest that Bella would not have worn this dress. I would therefore like to direct you to Stephanie Meyer's 'Official Guide to the Twilight Saga' in which there is a drawing of Bella's dress almost identical to the one worn in the movie. Also, it being a dress that was meant to be from the 1910-1920 period the style was extremely accurate, it wouldn't have been 'traditional' and it definitely wouldn't have had a full skirt.

    The dress is o prettyyy

I think that dress was perfect for bella.  It was very simple and elegant and a little old fashioned from the front- from the neckline, to the sleeves, in the front, and a little bit sexy from the back  You also do realize it was Alice doing most of the Wedding prep- so she had a big part in that.  Bella looked PERFECT!

  • BillieleeCullen

she did !!! the perfect dress

  • Tamarapage36

I like the dress but she's kinda tom boyish looking so I would imagine her in something different.

  • gasreggal

I agree with shumeklisa was very disappointed with the dress albeit the dress was georgeous, but bella would never have worn it and if the designer had read the books before hand would have known that.   Also it was Alice who picked the dress for bella.

  • Gyleches

Stephenie Meyer knows Bella better than anyone as she created her. And this is the dress she described in the book. If Stephenie didn't think it was right, it would have been different.

  • jamkylecus

you just totally contradicted yourself! Bella may not have chosen the Herrera dress BUT Alice would have, it was a stunning dress!!

  • Shumeklisa

I didn't like the dress...Bella would't have liked the dress,it was to tight and showed her body to much.. Even as a Vampire she didn't like the blue dress that Alice put on her. Bella would have liked something traditional, with a full skirt. I was very disappointed in the style and even the lace could have been prettier. I read the saga nine times and I had a vision of her gown and I was very much disappointed.

  • R0S5

For all I know, Bella would have loved to use sweatpants and and old tshirt. I dont think she would have worn a full skirt dress. She used that because Alice picked it and it was according to the ring´s time.

  • Lirpa

If you've read the saga nine times then you would know that the only reason she didn't like the blue dress is because there was no reason/occasion for it...."Tightly fitted ice-blue silk? What did she think I would need it for? Was there a cocktail party later?" BD page 408......and the fact that it was hard to hunt in.
Also, if you've read the saga that many times then you'd remember....."The narrow sheath of the shimmering white dress flared out subtly at the train like an inverted calla lily, cut so skillfully that her body looked elegant and graceful." BD page 57........ I think that the dress she wears in the movie is pretty close to that. It's absolutely stunning!!!

  • Sharontalty

I loved the dress. maybe this was one time Bella wanted to look beautiful for Edward an she did just that. ...

  • Jezykielleathenacastro

you don't have to say that, you're hurting the designer and besides, it's so pretty :D

  • Jodyandcurtis

The dress is so georgous i think she should keep it and where it for her and Roberts real wedding:)

  • Linda

I wish I was getting married because that would be just what I would want to wear. I have never seen a gown as beautiful as this . I love all the detail that was but into it. It deffinetily will turn heads.
