NBC Purchases Murder-Mystery Pitch from Melissa Rosenburg and “Divergent” Screenwriter
NBC has purchased a new TV pitch titled “Afterthought” from Twilight Saga screenwriter Melissa Rosenburg and Evan Daugherty, screenwriter for Snow White and the Huntsman and the upcoming Divergent film adaptation.
Described as a closed-ended procedural in the vein of “CSI,” by way of “Inception” and “The Cell,” story follows an unconventional team within the FBI that uses the six-hour window between clinical death and cellular death to solve murders by entering the memories of the recently deceased.
Rosenberg, who will make her non-writing producing debut, will exec produce the project through her Tall Girls Prods. banner, while Daugherty will co-exec produce and write the pilot. Daugherty created the idea and brought it to Rosenberg, as the two share the same features agent at UTA, Tobin Babst.
The Peacock-affiliated Universal Television will produce.
