Twilight Makes “Time Magazine’s” Top 10 Leaks

In response to the recent “WikiLeaks” scandal, Time Magazine has looked at recent other “Leaks,” in the media and come up with a list.  Coming in at number 6 on their list is Stephanie Meyer’s Midnight Sun leak.

In 2005, rookie author Stephenie Meyer wrote a book about vampires in just a few months. Faster than she’d written it, Twilight leapt from bookshelves and the world met Bella, Edward and the rest of the Cullen clan. Told from Bella’s point of view, Twilight is the story of a star-crossed couple who cannot consummate their romance because Bella’s love, Edward, is a vampire. Meyer followed her breakthrough with three sequels in the next three years, all of which became gigantic bestsellers.

In 2008, she tried something different (sort of) by retelling the events of the first books, only from Edward’s point of view. Sooner than you can say “glittering vampire,” 12 unfinished chapters from the new manuscript, Midnight Sun, appeared on the Internet. “I think it is important for everybody to understand that what happened was a huge violation of my rights as an author, not to mention me as a human being,” Meyer said in a message to fans. Rather than punish her loyal following, Meyer posted her entire unfinished Midnight Sun draft on her website. The only catch is that it’s unprintable — better bring an e-reader.

does anyone have recent information about Midnight Sun? i'm dying to read the complete book, i hope she writes one of every twilight saga, it completes the books.

  • wolfgurl
i tried very hard to read midnight sun on the computer and i got the worst headache from looking at the screen without blinking cuz i was so into it. so i never got the chance to read the whole thing. i wish my printer worked but i wish even more for her to just sell the dang thing in stores!

  • I agree Stephenie. you're an amazing writer,,,you have such sweet thoughts, and I love the way you descrube edwards thoughts in midnight sun. you have such talent and you shouldnt let it go to waste. keep on writing and make us twi-hard fans proud. we love you!

I think Stephanie was completely right in what she did. I read part of midnight Sun but had a change of heart halfway through. I think everyone should respect that it her career and these books are her creations. She should have the right to publish them when and how she likes. Saying that, i would love if she published a finished version of Midnight Sun one day. Even if its far in the future- i can wait and its something to look forward to, when the movies are long gone. Il always be a Twihard :)

I really like the novels of twilight but I really do not like the end please if someone please tell me why it always has to be from Bella's point of view oh my God I hate the whole idea
  • She DID punish her readers! She decided to stop writing the story, and gave up on it altogether. The unfinished draft that she put on her website was the segment that had already been leaked, so she wasn't giving her readers anything they hadn't already seen. She definitely overreacted in this situation. It wasn't the fans who leaked her work, it was one person. She should be more careful with who she lets read her works-in-progress and not punish the fans that were so anxious for this installment that they read what they could find online. She needs to finish that book and publish it ASAP.

I totally couldn't agree more. I think she should delete what "leaked" and possibly start over. I truly am disappointed in the one who ruined her next best seller. I know others are too. Anyways I couldn't agree with you more.
  • I Totally 100% agree with you Cassandra:) Well Written/spoken:)
  • i can't wait for this book to be published. i really hope it does get published. i love how you begin to understand every little look, every little smile and every little sentance bella's human ears are too weak to hear. i would love all the books to be written this way, particularly Breaking Dawn. it would be interesting to know what is happening in the house and what edward is thinking as Bella is transforming. Also what Aro is really thinking on the Battle ground.

Please write the book "midnight sun" so that it can be translated into other languages like Dutch, because my english is not good enough for an English book.
  • Jamierulestheworld
Stephenie please finish Midnight Sun!!! I read the draft and it was amazing!! please! :)
  • Jwytk
I too certainly hope that Midnight Sun makes to print. From what I have read (12 unfinished chapters) it would be a very good book. It explains a lot of what is going on his Edward's head that actually gives more understanding to Bella's perspective.
    FINISH! FINISH! FINISH!
    PUBLISH! PUBLISH! PUBLISH!

It is so unfair that we all have to be punished cos of 1 idiotic thief.
I do understand how Stephanie feels, I just wish she could clear her mind of it and instead dwell on her devoted fans. Maybe then she can finish the book and hopefully the other 3. I feel like there is so much more to be said from Edwards point of view and also after Breaking Dawn.
Will Jacob and Renesmee be able to have kids? How will they turn out? What will happen when the Volturi eventually do try to pick them out one by one?? I NEED MORE!!!
  • Like Like Like And Dubble Like!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please Finish The Books Compleatly
  • Maybe she will one day because I think it's been mentioned that she has a bunch of other rough drafts that she just messes around with and aren't published. Let's just hope she'll publish them one day! (:
  • I would love it if she finished it, but I don't blame her if she wants to get a brake from Twilight writing. I think maybe she is waiting until the whole Twilight-Big-Hit feel passes, like when all the movies come out, because then she could finish Midnight Sun and then bam! Twilight comes back and is a big deal again. At least that's would I would do. I hate waiting though. I loved the first 12 chapter. (:
  • Hillbilly Baller15
she should really make them from jacobs point of veiw also....
  • Cats3
Please please put the book out. I'm dying to read it
  • Bmsdscraps
Hmmmm. My copy, downloaded long ago, is a PDF. Those are quite printable, are they not? I mean, I don't choose to print that many pages, but I *could* if I wanted to.
  • Alyssa
Yeah, I hope she releases it, it would be awesome to them all from Edward's perspective, especially in New Moon, that would be a hard one to read, but it would be amazing! <3
  • Mrsalatalo
she is mad her exact words were if she did finish the book right now the cullens would be dead and i can understand that she feels that way i do hope she finishes it and does the rest of the novels of twilight in edward's point of view it answers so many questions that you want the answers to when bella tries to exp what happens because you need both sides to get the full picture i kinda hope she writes some books from alice's point of view too
  • JakesAbsMakeMeDrool
I didn't read it online due to the fact that she didn't deserve for it to be leaked and I believe that one day in the future she will publish it and I'm willing to wait for the actual book
  • Emilyj7296
whoever posted it online is a butt head. he ruined the chance for the whole world to read the completed novel.
  • Bubbalee53
Stephanie, we know that your upset that it got leaked but we all think you are an amazing righter. I know that I would by all 4 books if you wrote them in Edwards point of veiw. Him telling the story makes so much sence. I read the Twilight series 12 times and I love it. I can't get enough. Please Please Please write them.
  • Velogiant
I agree. Reading the book from Edwards point of view was more balanced and insightful. It shows the whole relationship, and that's a good thing.
