Picture of “The Cold One” Peter Murphy

Peter Murphy of the band Bauhaus shared a picture recently of his character from Twilight.  Peter plays someone known only as “The Cold One’” in Twilight Saga: Eclispe. Look for him during a flashback scene!

Peter said:

Who else could have and should have done it?. It was really lovely and smart of (director) David Slade to ask me…I was honored, actually.”

Sadly he doesn't look as beautiful as he was years ago, in all his glory. But yes, "google" him, you'll find awesome pictures, he has such beautiful face features and a charming-luring voice.

If you look in you tube, you may find great videos and interviews that show in all its magnificence his boldness and beauty. Oh my god, his hands, his only prescence evoked dark-beautiful angels.
Delicate yet strong. He would've played Zillah's character gloriously. (Read Lost Souls by Poppy Z. Brite, great book by the way) Vampires in New Orleans, dandelions, Mardi Gras, hurricane glasses, green chartreuse and blood to spare...

Peter Murphy has something hard to describe in a few words that no one else has... :-)

  • that's brilliant. I actually thought Peter should have been cast as Lestat long ago!

I thought that I recognized him! I've been a fan of the Bauhaus since 1982; the band officially broke up in 1980, but started with reunion tours in 1998. He would be arguably the "Godfather" of the Goth movement, since he and Dave Vanian of the Damned (English punk rock) have been doing the goth look since 1976. That's fantastic that not only was he asked to be in the movie, but that he felt it was an honor to do so.

In case there are people here not in the know, Bauhaus did a song called "Bela Lugosi's Dead" in the early 1980's. To this day, it is considered one of the goth movement's primary anthems anthems.

9 minute album track in its entirety: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... (better quality sound)

The song was featured in the vampire movie THE HUNGER (1983).

I can pretty much say that I was the only one in the theater that knew who it was...
(30 yr old recovering goth)... not having read that he makes a cameo.

There's also quite a bit of description of this in the MTV article someone posted earlier, but some people here seem not to be reading it--hence the redundancy.

I am assuming it is the vampire scene when the tribe first learned of the vampires. Remember he was referred to as the cold one and then his mate came to avenge him and that's when they talk about the third wife.

From MTV News: "Rather than a Volturi or a Cullen...he's playing a predecessor of the warring vampire factions. [His role] started out as an old Spanish, sort of unrelated vampire, in a flashback sequence...the flashback involves Gil Birmingham's wheelchair-bound Quileute elder. Billy Black's talking and telling the story of the werewolves, how they evolved, and how they met the vampires and stuff. [Murphy's cameo is] in a sequence that involves that." http://www.mtv.com/news/articl...

  • Im confused? Is he ment to play 'Marcus' in some flashback in Eclipse??

  • Aren't vampires suppose to be beautiful? 'Cause he is not B from BEAUTIFUL!

  • Lizbeth

try a google search - B for Beautiful he is.

  • guest

what we presently consider to be beautiful, is not what was always considered so throughout the centuries...

  • Moonstarrynight

fabulous! absolutely fabulous! Peter Murphy is so awesome and definitely fits the part.
