‘The Host’ movie headed into casting
The Examiner is reporting on some casting news for the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s book The Host.
Just a couple of weeks ago, we learned that progress on bringing Stephenie Meyer’s The Host to the big screen was being made when Deadline Hollywood reported that writer and director Andrew Niccol was “working on the third draft of a screenplay” while collaborating with Stephenie Meyer herself.
Then, Deadline suggested that filming for the movie could begin as early as next year, and yesterday the same site reported that the movie “will soon start casting.”
You might remember that back when the film adaptation for this book was announced, Stephenie Meyer announced that she was interested in seeing who The Host fans would choose for their favorite characters, and since then we had a huge discussion about which actors and actresses fans had in mind for the various roles.
In that discussion, it became clear that fans of the book had a wealth of ideas as to how the film should be cast, and it’ll certainly be interesting to see who is selected for each part.
No word yet on whether there will be an open casting call for the picture or whether it’ll be agency-based.
