Chaske Spencer clears up some new rumors

I read a new article, almost an exposÃ© about Chaske Spencer, claiming he entered into rehab after he scored his role in New Moon. There were a lot of details in the story but I thought it seemed very personal and there was no clear validity to the story so I didn’t post it. Chaske took to his website today to send a personal message to his fans about this:

Personal Message from Chaske Spencer Setting the Record Straight

To all the wonderful, incredibly loyal fans:

For those of you that read that I was in rehab, I wanted to make sure you heard the truth from me directly. Yes it is true, that I was in rehab, however it was over 19 months ago, long before NEW MOON was even on my radar. It was a pivotal time in my life where I was lucky enough to have supportive friends and family to help me get healthy. I am grateful that I have been clean and sober now for 19 months and cannot imagine my life if I had continued using drugs and alcohol. Almost everything else that was written about this is blatantly false and we are exploring our legal options. That was my past, and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to create a new future for myself. I encourage anyone who is in a similar place to seek support from their friends and family and know that without them, I would not have had the chance to be where I am now.

I want to thank all of you for the support you have shown, and continue to show. I appreciate each and every one of you.

I don’t know about you guys, but appreciate his candor and dealing with addiction is very difficult. I hope being a part of the Twilight community helps him in his sobriety.

Drugs and alcohol are not a good thing for someone who is in the eye of the media but doing something about it is, and he can be shown as a role model and im glad he did it.

its non of any1s buisness as long as long as his sorted his addiction and doesnt let it get in the way of his soberity and twilight then he should b respected 4 his privacy luv him tho!!

Well done, Chaske. You made a mistake and fixed it.
I feel grateful that he shared this fact with us fans.
He didn't need to. It was his past. It was his private life.
But I think his experience may help some teens who have
simlilar problems to rethink about themselves.
And perhaps they will see that they can quit too.

I hope you stay healthy and stay clear of drugs and alcohol all the rest of your life, Chaske.
It's not easy but you can do it.

his honesty is refreshing and his message is inspiring. Good for him that he turned his life around and that he's willing to be so open with his fans about his personal life lessons.
