Two different New Moon endings?

This post contains SPOILERS for The Twilight Saga: New Moon!

Sheri wrote to me about this and I thought I would bring it up with you guys to discuss. Sheri saw New Moon twice (in two different theaters) the first weekend it came out, and noticed that the first time she watched it, at the very end, Edward says “Marry Me, Bella,” it cuts to black, and the credits started.

The second time she saw it, Edward says, “Marry me, Bella,”, it cuts to Bella’s surprised face, and then goes to black, followed by the credits.

I thought this was strange that there would be two endings. My sister confirmed this to me because the one I saw had Bella at the end, and the one she saw had Edward.

Why do you think they decided to release two versions, edited differently? And are there other changes between these versions that I haven’t noticed? Did anyone else notice this if they saw it more than once in different theaters? Sound off on the comments! And take our poll about it:

  • When i saw the movie in the theaters Edward asked Bella to marry him in Bella's bedroom. but in the movie on DVD edward says it in the woods. did anyone notice that? there are two diffrent verisons of New Moon. i got the one in the woods. who got the one in her bed room? who got the one in the woods?

    THERE WERE TONS OF DIFFERENCES! i saw the movie 4 times in one theater and once in another and i own the dvd and there are two extremely different versions.
    1) Edwards lines are very different when he is discussing the volturi with bella at her party
    2) Laurent says "you are so mouthwatering" with more intensity in one movie
    3) In the end of one movie when bella saves edward she says "NO EDWARD DONT!" and then she jumps into his arms and in the other movie she just says "dont" and then edward like smells her hair or something strange like that.
    4) At the theaters the run time was 2 hours and 2 minutes but on the dvd it is an hour and a half.

    THERE ARE TONS MORE BUT I CAN ONLY TYPE SO MUCH!! haha

    I saw the one with Bella's surprised face all 4 times I saw it at the cinemas. In the different one the ending with Edward, did it just cut to black after he said- "Marry me, Bella"?

    I actually watched the movie twice in the same theatre and got both endings .. is that possible?

    im from south africa and new moon only officially started showing on the 27th of nov but i went to a sneak screening on the 23rd and then saw the movie again on the 27th (both of these where at the SAME CINEMA) the first time i saw it it was the cut with just edward end the next time it had bella. so even the same cinema had two different versions...

    the first time i saw it was at the midnight premair and it ended with edward and i saw it the weekend after that and i like just noticed when i was thinking back to it it ended wiyh bella??? i wonder why?

  • The ending I saw was Edward asking her to marry him and it cut out but just before it did you heard Bella gasped or make a surprised noise, but never saw her.

    I know exactly what your talking about....the opening weekend i saw it end with edward and when i saw it the next week it ened with bella...i thought to myself i dont remeber this..and now ive seen it 3 mmore times since then and it ends with bella...but i deffiantly saw it end with edward too.

    i've seen it twice in the same theater and it does have two endings

    I saw the one when it cuts to Bella's face. I don't get how it ends with Bella, I'm confused on that.

    I KNEW IT!! i thought it ended with edward at the midnight showing.. but i was reading ppl's blogs and stuff and lthey sed it ended with bella.. i was like.... oh.. hmpph.. then i went bak and saw it again and it definitely ended with bella, ik bc this time i was waiting for it! i also thot my mind was playing tricks on me!! good to no i'm not going crazy at least!

    i saw the first one described at the premiere in my area, and i thought my mind was playing tricks on me too the second time :/

    there really isent any diffrence in the two... just a plain look bella gives... its just a mistake. they cut too eairly

    I thought you meant a totally different ending with a different scene, i didnt realise i would be wasting my time with a camera switch. ::rolls eyes:: I saw Bella's surprised gasp after Edward asked her to marry him, by the way.

    Edward then black screen is one I saw. Weird. Can't wait for DVD to come out to see deleted stuff. When is that any way!!! I want to watch it on DVD over and Over again!!!
