Bella was already (sort of) engaged to Edward when Jacob ratted her out, so the movie's ending was a bit reversed. I personally think this scene should have been in her bedroom, like in the book. It would have been much more intimate and it would not have looked like a response from Edward for what happened between Jacob and Bella.
