Miley Cyrus calls Twilight a cult

Oh Miley! You may have just lost a bunch of fans. I know Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana has a huge fan base, but nothing like the Twilight fandom. Miley had this to say about Twilight and its fans:

“I think it’s like [a] cult… I think it’s a cult,” Miley tells Sirius XM’s The Morning Mash Up in an interview that aired on Tuesday. “I think it’s bad. I think it’s like, just people get too into it.”

“For me, I think it’s like when guys look at supermodels and they’re like, ‘That’s the perfect girl,’ … That’s what those kind of movies do to us,” Miley says on The Morning Mash Up. “They’re like thinking that’s what girls should be like and not everyone is going to be Edward, hate to say it.”

“Johnny Depp is way hotter than Robert Pattinson, for sure,” the Hannah Montana star said.

I realize she is only 16, but she needs to learn when to shut her mouth. If Taylor can be as well-spoken as he is, you think she could rein in the comments that fly out of her mouth. And, just FYI, I am not a Miley hater, I just don’t agree with her a lot of the time.

    ummmm..Twilight is not an amazing film...it's kind of a crappy film, but the books are wonderful :)

    Yeah, the books were hard to put down, the movie versions are kinda a huge disappointment. In my opinion, they could have cast some better thespians as Bella and Edward. The screenplay could have stayed truer to the novels, the effects were a let down, the movie didn't deliver the same punch as the novels. Most of the tension, the build up, the emotion delivered in Stephanie Meyers' writing are lost on the big screen.

    I hate to say this...but maybe you are not "old" enough to understand this - Or maybe live under a rock.
    The adaptations from the books to the screen is better than most of the other 'series' I have seen. And it is not just me.

    i agree. i did not like the twilight film but i loved new moon and of course i looooved all four of the books.

    If Twilight was no good, then New Moon would never have been made. Just because K-Stew can't act, doesn't make the rest of the movie was bad.
    And you probably think the Harry Potters were a good adaptation.
    Anyhow loved new moon.

    acctually i hate harry potter with a passion! and ya ok twilight wasn't completely terrible some of the movie was great but i can't stand catherine hardwicke she drives me crazy! she didn't bring the story to life it was all action and no love. anyway I HATE HARRY POTTER!

    lol I think she just means that at least they try to make the movies as close to the books as possible, which HP's directors did not. The books are lovely, but the movies suck...
    Miley, if anything your little Hannah Montana "%&$ franchise is misleading, deceiving and a damn cult when I look at all the little girls running around in your clothing, your dolls and your horrid music! At least Twilight promotes a good storyline, romance, action and fantasy.. you just prob don't have the intellegence to understand it.

    and even if twilight completely sucked they probably would have made new moon it all depends on how much money they make and they made alot when twilight came out.

    yeah i totally agree kathrine stuffed up twilight but the books arent thats great either i mean everything in them is dscribed really well but that girl has got a lot of grammer mistakes and i hate reading books like that but i stuck it out and im glad i did

    You talk about grammar mistakes, but you made quite a few in that little comment too... every book has grammar mistakes, it all depends on the editing company to catch them or not.

    If u did it was because they were good enough that u wanted to read them.
    Ur grammer is not top notch either (not many people's are), just give credit where its due. Twilight is successful; a world wide phenonemon, despite different views. Is it not everyone's cup of tea, but it sure has made alot of people happy and alot of people famous.

    um the movies and books are very different in alot of ways movies can't compare to books. it all depends on the ppl making the movie cuz even if the book was amazing and the whole world loved it the ppl making the movie (catherine hardwicke) can screw it up very easily, and she did.

    You guys have mental problems; Miley is not a slut,whore..etc She's 17 years old, i think she's allowed to show alittle skin. Brittney Spears showed her stomach at the same age. I don't hear anyone calling her a slut. You have to realize that people ARE allowed to say what they want. I LOVE twilight, simply because of how the storyline is but i DONT hate miley b/c she doesn't like twilight. She has her own opinions and we have ours. And whoever wrote this seriously needs to grow up. Your mad b/c miley says whats on her mind?     she wasn't rude. She was right. it is what it is, and it's not her cup of tea. She was honest and didn't follow the crowd over a contemporary cult film. It's not a slam on you, it just isn't her bag. Ya'll kids need to get over it LOL. She's a bright and talented young woman with a good head on her shoulders. I would rather my 11 year old daughter take Miley as a pop culture role model than Kristen Stewarts character Bella.
