Hi,
I'm Lisa Bode, the scholar misquoted in that article. I just want to point out that I have never 'fretted' about Twilight ruining relationships. I've actually argued that plenty of women claim it's increased their sex drives and made their relationships *better*. As I pointed out to the journalist in the original interview, those facebook sites are actually facetious. I am fed up with hack journalists misusing my work to back up their own agendas. For the record, my research is on the cultural reception of Twilight, and the different kinds of 'chatter' around it and its fans. I don't normally go round commenting on every site (mis)quoting me, but this is just beyond stupid so I have to say *something*.

I realize that too but, still with my boyfriend and dream to find some day my Edward Cullen. But for now with my boyfriend because he is very sensitive and i dont want to hurt him. But definitely twilight saga bring me the oportunity to realize what Im looking for in a guy and the fact that my relationship is a mess.

Well it obviously is true for K-Stew in real live – lol! Just kidding! Seriously, if people are ridiculous enough to be so unrealistic, then they shall remain single forever! As much as I would love for it to be true, there is no Edward Cullen! Jacob (minus the werewolf part) is more realistic than Edward.

o come on, i dont think the EC ruins relationships! he shows us wat love is really abt, how a woman shld be treated etc. of course men arent perfect (expt EC) but they can take some very good tips from him! my friends and i fight almost EVERYDAY abt how much we love EC and how much we want to b a Cullen, but at the end of it we knw tht life goes on.(truly, sometimes Fantasy can be better than reality)

Oh come on I agree with the first comment.Nobody's perfect(except Edward )!But of course who WOULDNT want a man to be like Edward,Rob,Jacob,or Taylor??Be honest I mean people want men to be like fictional characters who care.On the other hand Men want Women to be obdient which is never gonna happen.So come on people get over it its not a big secret that we want men like Edward and Jacob!!

I think they underestimate the “Edward” fan. We know that it's all fantasy and not real. It's just nice to get lost in a fantasy world sometimes when you live in the real world too long. And no one could ever live up to Edward. Robert Patt isn't even him. Get a grip.

Men just need to stop blaming a FICTIONAL Character! they should start learning. and i admit i do fantasize of finding my edward lol but that does not mean i can't appreciate a guy . And reading the book made me realize a lot of good stuffs. like finding love its not easy but its totally worth it. …. So boys just grow up and treat a women right.

i am a big fan of the book s but i find it rediculos that any one would go as far as to say it or he ruined their relationship thats perthetic no man is perfect and if u expect them to be then thats ur own fault when it goes wrong and it was obiously not ment to be he is an actor so dont base ur life and relationship on one actor !!

Girls are idiots.
I'm a girl, so I would know. And we are definietly shallow…sometimes. I doo think of Edward Cullen a lot, and wish for a guy like him, but Ialso wish for a guy like Robert Pattinson. Same people yet, they're totally different!
But anyways, I don't ahve a boyfriend, and I'm just crushing. This guy does somewhat remind me of Edward. Pale, amazing eyess… his personalityy rocks!

These books and the relationship between bella and edward did help me realize how bad my relationship was…and basically I ended breaking up with my boyfriend of 4 years…I think that it really contributed for me to make this decision among other things and aspects of the relationship itself..but it got me to open my eyes…so I guess reading these books provided me with something positive.

Edward is the new “what a woman wants in a guy”…and it happens all the time…And if you were to take out the whole “vampire” and “immortal” factor, and make him a “real” person, people would still be swooning over him. It's the reason people make movies and write books in the first place.

As a 23 year old guy (with the same age and name as Robert). I have to say Twilight solidified my relationship with my fiance since I already was everything Edward was in the books. It was actually eerie reading them because for years before Twilight came out I was already telling my fiance that I loved her smell and could pick her out of a line-up blindfolded; as well as various other aspects of both Edwards physical character and his personality traits.
