Is Chris Weitz quitting directing?

Well, for anyone hoping that Chris Weitz might direct Breaking Dawn, this won’t be good news. He told MovieMaker magazine that he may just quit directing films after his next film The Gardener.

“Every time I make a movie I’m pretty much convinced it’s the last time I’m going to be able to do it and that really it’s a rather silly occupation to undertake,” says Weitz, 40, whose Oscar nod was for the adapted screenplay of 2002’s About a Boy. “But I think I have maybe one more film in me.”

    And I hope to God his 'one more' is Breaking Dawn. He is a crazy, talented director and I would hate to see him sell himself short and quit now that hes in his prime. Not to say New Moon was his prime, but now is definately the time to stay in the movie business. If its not broken, dont fix it. Same goes for, if you are great at what you do,stick with it. Obviously he deserves to do what makes him happy. But I do truely hope that he sticks to his calling which seems to be appropriately deemed Director.

    saw new moon last night!! in NZ i think we were the first to see it! it was AWESOME guys... heading to see it again soon.. :)

    NOOOO.... not Chris Weitz!! His an amazing director and the love of my life... Even after METTING the cast @ the new moon uk fan event, I still Love Chris!! I even said that to him when he came round, which made them all laugh! but he said it back which was great :L

    I cant believe Chris Weitz is giving up... about a boy, golden compass and New Moon is brilliant, how can someone with so much talent (& gorgeous if i may add) can do this when he is destined to be a director...

    I know... finally get to see new moon today :) (now its officially the 19th) luckily the uk are now doing midnight viewing and thanks to the 5 hour time difference we get to see it earlier than most :) cant wait!!

    I'm sooo excited I get to see it tomorrow also- and I'll probably see it many times after that ALSO this is sad- I love Chris Weitz and so does the cast!!!!

    no i live in the usa...california. i went to the midnight show of new moon!!! it was amazing!!!! i have already seen it twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but i have been to england...it was really cool there!

    'im so sorry ... but i gotta do this ... I JUST GOT BACK FROM THE MOVIES !!! I HAVE JUST WATCHED NEW MOON !!!! hahhahahaahhaha , but dont worry, i wont give anything away (gosh, sometimes i'm really glad i moved to france ^^ feel the smugness ? :p) but i cant wait for all of you to have watched it cause i can't wait for all the topics to be discussed :)))

    Lets just hope Jake is there to save me... anyway back on topic :D

    I cant wait to see it today, the UK are showing it today thank the lord, if i had to wait till the 20th i would have died :L Im sooo excited right now i cant get to sleep, its seriously like 1:00 in the morning over here and i cant contain myselllllf :)

    Hope you had a brill time at the cinema... cant waiiit *sings*
