Muse talks about NM soundtrack contribution

Muse talked to MTV about their conversation with Chris Weitz and what song they think they will be contributing to the New Moon soundtrack.

Speaking to Zane Lowe the group revealed that they’ve recently spoken to the film’s director Chris Weitz about recording a new version of a song from their album The Resistance.

Singer Matt Bellamy revealed: “I spoke to the director yesterday (and) he wants the track I Belong To You, the sort of vaudeville piano track.

“He wants a rendition of that but the only thing with the new film is they want the songs to be exclusive to the film. So he’s asking if I mind doing, or if we mind doing an alternative version of it.”

Asked if they were up for it Matt said: “I think it’s alright- if it was one of the main tracks on the album I would never do it. But it’s actually one of the weirder tracks on the album.

“(It’s) one of the can’t believe we got away with it kind of tracks. I think it might be worth giving it a go cos it’s a track that might not get played live very often… one of the obscure tracks off the album so it might give that track some life that it wouldn’t have otherwise.”

I just played this one for my husband yesterday to point out how much I like it, especialy the part where he sings in French. It isn’t the song I would have picked for the soundtrack, but that doesn’t mean it won’t work! And I am OK with a reworking of the song because it will be like getting a new Muse song. Looking forward to it.

    I love Muse! <3 This is the post that really started my love for muse. I finally searced for more of their music after loving supermassive black hole for a long time when I read this post. It was this post who made me want to find out more about their music <3 And I loved it <3 I have to admit that I don't like twilight anymore, and I haven't done in maybe one and a half year, but I am thankful, and I don't hate. It was twilight that started my love for muse, the best band ever!

    my immortal woud be PERFECT! :)...*sigh*..but sadly it seems evanescence has lost its popularity:(..but if one of there songs was on the new moon soudtrack, it would shoot right back up!!!

    Muse and The Killers, it's just getting better :D
    I miss Paramore though :(

    I dont like this song by muse.... But I deffinently think that Paramore should be on the soundtrack!!!

    Muse is and always has been a little avant garde! I think this is far tamer than Supermassive Blackhole, but not as good as Starlight and Uprising. Bravo!

    Sing for Absolution by Muse should be on the Soundtrack! Like for the cliff scene or All around me by Flyleaf! Thats a good one. Maybe Truth about Heaven by Armor for Sleep?

    I love Muse, and I don't wanna see this song go on the album. New Moon is going to ruin it, just like they ruined Supermassive Black Hole. I can see why everyone wants Muse on the soundtrack, seeing as they are the best band ever, but they ruined Supermassive Black Hole. I don't want them to ruin my favorite track on the album!!!
    Muse, if you ever read this, know that all of your true fans don't want you to do this! We love for you to get the plublicity you deserve, but at least give you music to a soundtrack worthy of hearing you.

    I always play the song "three cheers for five years" by mayday parade when i read new moon. i dont know why but i just feel like it fits.

    there DEFINATELY NEEDS TO BE LINKIN PARK!... or evanescence!.......evanescence is so dramatic and it would sound perfect in the movie!

    I was thinking that Cold Desert by Kings of Leon would be a good track to have on the soundtrack. It's one of those songs that doesnt get heard often, but if you give it a listen it really is quite beautiful. I think it would compliment Bella's feelings of isolation in New Moon. Well either Cold Desert or Closer.

    I was thinking more Cold Desert by Kings of Leon, its one of those tracks that never gets heard but its really a beautiful song, you should give it a listen, I think it would fit in perfectly with New Moon because of Bella's isolated feelings.

    Coldplay NEEDS to be on one of the albums for sure. And im not too sure about how this song is gonna go down in the movie ... it sounds wicked weird.
