More info on the “silver” Volvo

So I thought we cleared this up as there had been some concern over the silver Volvo that Edward drives in Eclipse. The Lexicon was reassured yesterday that the Volvo in Eclipse was the same one as in New Moon. We all breathed a sigh of relief, but it seems now that the latest New Moon trailer has leaked, that the Volvo they used in New Moon isn’t up to par!

After much ado, here is the update from the Lex:

EDITED: Looking at the Volvo website, there is a dark silver color available. We’re wondering if that is what they went for instead?

EDITED: More emails back and forth, the color is a dark silver/gray

EDITED: 17 emails later…this is the car(the S60R described by Stephenie is no longer made, that’s why the car in Twilight was differnt too) http://www.volvocars.com/us/models/xc60/Pages/BuildYourxc60.aspx and the color chart would have the color at either “Black Sapphire Metallic” or “Saville Grey Metallic” both of which seem to read “black”on screen. As we just said on Twitter we now feel like we’ve been run over by the Volvo…it seemed like such a simple question at the time…*headddesk*!

So some of you, I am sure, don’t care about Edward’s car. But I know some of you care immensely! Sound off in the comments.

    its all about advertisement - AKA- money volvo paid summit to advertise their new SUV....and oh by the way i JUST BOUGHT a 2010 volvo C30......same one in twilight...so they could have used the same car and yea they still make them

    Okay so my dad is a manger at one of the volvo stores so I took the question to him and he said that they could have used a silver S80, it is the EXACT same car but its like 3 inches wider, and he also said that they may not make the S60's anymore but they still have them brandnew all over, and that the year Twilght was made they still make them, that made me think well isn't he supposed to have a 2005 silver volvo s60!! Wtf? I think He should be driven one of those.

    Idk but I t bothers me so bad cause it just ruins I mean come on theres even a line in the book you guyssssssss

    i am pretty sure the reason they are not using the same car from twilight is because they gave it away as a prize on the tyra banks show when taylor and robert were on it. i watched it a really long time ago but i thought that it said it was the car rob drove in the movie i saw the video on youtube

    Can't they just have the next model up, the S80 which is pretty much identical to the S60? But i didn't really mind the one they had for Twilight, ah well it's just a car, as long as they keep it a Volvo i'm happy :)

    Ok, I have just seen the trailer but I dont understand! First the image that Bella saw of Edward when her throw in the water is like he was "dead" and not like sthep described it in the book, the image ... the second Laurent was appearing fighting with the wolves and its not like in the book that he run away, though it seemed to me better now, more action... third Why they were striking Edward? It is not what really happens, and i really dont like that. ABOUT THE SILVER VOLVO, well i preferr it, but if they did not obtain I can live with it... BUT AS A WHOLE, IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THEY CHANGED MANY THINGS OF THE BOOK, AND IT STINKS.

  • volovo is not my type of car...well it kinda is but not my first pick.(mini coop)...but they can just paint it right?

  • Again, people..CONTINUITY is the key..if Twilight had the SILVER C30 Sports Coupe, Edward should have the SILVER C30 Sports Coupe through and through...since the old version that was stated in the book is not anymore available, they could at least settle for what was used in the first book movie...the editing of the first movie was already bad, the least they could do is make up for it on the 2nd installment..geez! New Moon has at least a bigger financial back up than the first movie..i bet it was much more expensive on the production to actually rent out that black volvo than just using the C30 that was rented out before... its recession and they wasted a lot of money for a 15-minute to an hour shot of that black volvo on-screen.

    Whyd they change it from silver? I don't mind the new car type-- but they could have made it silver... i don't undesrtand it's not that big of a deal to keep the colors the same...from the first movie.

    hello it caught my attention too in the new trailer or the leaked one that it was black bt a pale vamp and a black car is just like edward in a sext black suit but it will change the irection i supposse . - foxyladylyn my cousin lives in st helens and i do that all the time where i live too if i spot the volvo i like it :D its like a sign that i have found my edward lol. add me on msn - metoyoutasha@hotmail.co.uk, or natashasmith1992@hotmail.com if you love twilight im sure we can get along :D x

    grrr its supposed to be silver, cant they just paint it (since there are no more models of the old one left) and since they have millions of dollars to spend, im sure they can afford to get a little paint job. but after all its just a car and personally i think black looks better but for the twilight saga it should definitely be silver!

    I actually think the Crossover-SUV is more Edward's "style" than the original Twilight Hatchback version of the Volvo. I like the "new car" better.

    i really dont like that volvo... it looks nothing like the old volvo which i loved immensely.. i see other people driving them in st helens and i always watch them go by.. i love the back of the old volvo... not this one.
